THE GOLCO SUMMER SEASON PLAY OFFS
Last Sunday, after recovering from Hurricane Irma, the GOLCO
started with the playoffs for the 2017 Summer season. It was a very exciting
day since our League hosted a USSF Open Cup game prior to the two
quarterfinals matches scheduled for the GOLCO 2017 summer tournament. A few very special guests were
present at the games including the President of Florida State Soccer
Association, Mr. Richard Moeller and several college coaches
At 11 AM Red Force FC from the APSL confronted FC Ginga from the UPSL for the 2017/2018 first round of the USSF Open Cup. Red Force FC won the
content by a score of 5 to 0. Unfortunately both teams were short of players
due to the restrictive and complicated registration system used by USSF and that affected the
level and quality of the game.
At 1 PM on the first quarterfinal of the GOLCO, LSC defeated School of Soccer by a score
of 4 to 0 with goals scored by Luis Villamizar, Robens Decius (2) and a PK by
Andres Rodriguez. LSC will play Jupiter United in one of the semifinals to be played next Sunday.
At 3 PM we witnessed the biggest upset of the season. Boca
Raton FC, undefeated for two full seasons, lost the other quarterfinals against
strong FC Elite by a score of 2 to 7. Elite goals were scored by Santiago
Caballero, Noel Edson, Bayron Perea, Diego Pagny and Ricardo Tapia (3). The
goals by Boca FC were scored by Shady Harb and Claudio Pinto. Elite FC will play Palm Beach Spartans in the other semifinal of the GOLCO.
