THE FGCL RESUME ACTIVITIES AFTER THE HOLIDAYS

WELCOME TO THE NEW YEAR.

Last week end the FGCL restarted operations after the Holiday Season. We hope everybody is OK and ready for a glorious New Year of great soccer. Two games were played on Sunday January 13. Both finalized with the same score 2-1. Lauderhill Jrs got its first victory defeating LSC while Boca Raton FC playing at his new home field defeated PB Spartans.

This year we expect great news !!!!  The new MLS Miami franchise is on its way. The Women's FIFA World Cup will be played as well as the Copa America. Many international teams are visiting our area and playing games.

One of our own was appointed as head coach of FC Dallas from the MLS. Luchi Gonzalez from Hialeah who after playing youth and High School soccer in Miami Dade went to play four years of college soccer at Southern Methodist University, under the leadership of coach and mentor Schellas Hyndman emerging in 2001, his senior season, to win the Hermann Trophy as college soccer's best player. After that Luchi played in the MLS, in Europe and in South America to become, after retirement, a prolific soccer coach at FC Dallas Academy.
Luchi played in our league in several seasons in the late 1990s while still playing High School and FYSA ball under coach Jay Flipse. Now he will be at the helm of a prestigious franchise in Texas. Good luck Luchi !!
