THE SEMIFINALS OF THE GOLCO SUMMER SEASON
On Sunday, October 1st the Semifinals of the GOLCO were
played. It was a great day of soccer. On a cloudy day with some thunderstorms,
two exiting games took place.
At 1 PM undefeated Jupiter United confronted Lauderdale SC
(LSC). Despite the fact that the “homeless” from LSC were missing several
starters including LSC captain Roee Blicher and Junior Palacios both nursing
minor injuries, they took early control of the game in midfield, attacking
Jupiter with intensity and decision. They scored before the 10 minute mark by
Andres Rodriguez. Immediately after the goal, Jupiter United reacted and
balanced the game but their attack never put the LSC goal in jeopardy.
Furthermore, LSC had several well conducted counterattacks but keeper Anthonio
Gomez responded well and avoid that LSC scored. The first half was completed
with a score 1-0 in favor of LSC.
In the second half, LSC continued attacking and controlling midfield.
Again keeper Gomes was instrumental in avoiding that LSC score again early in
the half. Finally, in the 3 quarter of the second half, Andres Rodriguez and
Cesar Mantilla mark two goals for the “homeless”. At that time, Jupiter could
not react and the game finished with a 3 -0 score in favor of LSC for them to qualify
for next week final.
At 3 PM Palm Beach Spartans played Elite SC. A close game
where neither team could score in regulation time. The single-elimination game
went to definition by kicks from the penalty mark. PB Spartans won by a score
of (0) 5 to (0) 4 and will play against LSC for the season title next weekend.
